Hot New Restaurants in the Twin Cities

Minneapolis’ food scene is underrated, but that’s about to change – Saveur, a renowned gourmet food, and wine magazine, has named it “America’s Next Great Food City”.

A number of new restaurants are starting to get some much-deserved attention. Here are the hottest restaurants in the Twin Cities:

  1. Spoon & Stable

  2. 211 North First Street

Housed in a former horse stable, this restaurant’s sophisticated and cozy interior is ideal for dinner dates and small get-togethers. Inspired by French cuisine and the Midwest’s seasonality, the menu consists of delectable dishes like grilled American venison, seared rainbow trout, and roasted pumpkin tortellini.

Their full-service bar serves cocktails, beer, and wine by the glass. A fine selection of artisanal cheese is also available.

  3. Crooner’s Lounge and Supper Club
    6161 Highway 65 NE

Step back in time and relive the most glorious years of the baby boomer era in this award-winning restaurant. Catch a jazz band in full swing and order from the well-developed menu. Shrimp scampi, beef stroganoff, and roasted turkey breast are just some of the dishes on offer.

There is live music seven days a week, and there’s no cover charge in the lounge. The dining room commands views of Moore Lake, while the supper club may be reserved for private events.

  4. Mercury Dining Room and Rail
    505 Marquette Avenue S

French and Southern influences are apparent on this restaurant’s menu, which includes comfort food like buttermilk fried chicken, Chicago-style ribeye, and pan-roasted salmon. An impressive selection of beer, wine, and cocktails is also available, along with desserts and bread from the on-site bakery.

Watch the cooks work their magic in the open kitchen while you wait for dinner to be served. The restaurant’s understated elegance makes it an excellent spot for dates, family dinners, and lunch meetings.

  5. Italian Eatery
    4724 Cedar Avenue

Enjoy the warm and welcoming atmosphere of this neighborhood eatery while feasting on scrumptious dishes like spinach fettuccine, crispy lemon chicken thighs, and grilled mussels. Save room for dessert – the restaurant serves mascarpone cheesecake and chocolate olive oil torte.

Italian Eatery is often full in the evenings, so it’s advisable to make reservations. The patio and pergola bar, however, may be occupied on a first come, first serve basis.

  6. Obento-Ya Japanese Bistro
    1510 Como Avenue SE

Classic bento boxes, steaming bowls of udon, and artisanal sushi rolls are just some of the stellar offerings at this small but stylish restaurant. From beautiful presentation to sharp flavors, Obento-Ya ticks all the boxes for an enjoyable and satisfying meal.

The wonderful atmosphere also makes for a memorable dining experience. Come here with friends and share a plate of katsu skewers and bacon-wrapped asparagus, or have lively conversations over ice-cold Asahi beer.

  7. St. Genevieve
    5003 Bryant Avenue S

One of the most highly anticipated restaurants in Minneapolis, St. Genevieve serves exquisite dishes like shrimp bouillabaisse, lamb tartare, pan seared trout, and chicken stuffed with Andouille sausage. As for dessert, the brown sugar date cake with accompanying cheesecake ice cream should not be missed.

The restaurant exudes the charm of a French café without being kitschy. It’s also kid-friendly, making it perfect for family gatherings.
